RAJESHWARI MAHILA MAHAVIDYALAYA, established in the year 2002, is situated on the periphery of Varanasi city. It is situated on Varanasi - Jaunpur highway just about eight kms away from the city headquarters. Founded by an eminent poet, academician and social engineer Late Sri Chandrama Singh the institution aims at providing access to higher education to women of all ages, castes, creeds and regions. The institution is located in an idyllic setting. Historical River Varuna flows just a kilometer away in the south. Rameshwar, a famous historical-religious place is just three kms away to the west of this institution of learning. The aerodrome of Varanasi, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, is only eight kms away from this institution. The college, in this way, has a good location. It can attract a large number of girl-students as there are no college of women in its vicinity. In a radius of ten kms there are at least fifteen intermediate colleges of co-education. Girls passed out from these colleges of intermediate standard shall avail the higher education from this women's college. Besides the institution has its intermediate girls college and that will too provide girl-students for higher education. Regarding the large number of girl-students already passed their 12th classes, the institution holds an important place for the education of women. The college got financial assistance from the U.P. Govt. for its infrastructure development under the special scheme for the promotion of women's education in rural sector, especially in those blocks which have no colleges for women's higher education.
The college aims at providing higher education to women in Arts, Science and Management courses. Presently efforts are being made to get affiliation from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. The papers have been moved to obtain temporary affiliation so that regular courses in Arts Faculty could be run from the academic session of 2013-14. The main study courses upto graduation level will be in the subjects of Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Home Science, Ancient History, Political Science and Psychology. Later on Post-graduation courses shall be made available to the students so that they could reach their aspirations without any hurdles.
